The spatial relationship between 2-D and 3-D now drives the gameplay, and the flatness of 2-D is no longer just a neat stylistic bit of eye candy, but an intrinsic part of how the game is played.įor example, in the 2-D world, a wall might seem too high to scale, but flip to 3-D and a ladder becomes visible on the left-facing wall. Super Paper Mario is that Mario can now flip between 2-D and 3-D, which often reveals hidden objects and pathways.
